Diet & Training Shifts During COVID-19

Updated: Apr 7, 2020

⁣ @tryin2bfit4life on the Gram, recently asked us how our diet and training has changed with the 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐘𝐨𝐫𝐤 lockdown. ⁣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡.⁣  ⁣ By large, our diet is the same as it’s always been, especially since we work from home and haven’t been too affected by this shut down in that regard. We are able to maintain most of our usual habits. I mean 𝘭𝘦𝘵’𝘴 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩, there have been some burritos (New York locals, Al Horno has phenomenal healthy Mex). We’ve also had a couple nights of some of our other favorite treats! 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲, 𝐬𝐨 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞/𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝. ⁣ Where the change really came was in our training since no gyms are open. We had our SelecTech dumbbells from storage delivered and have been using resistance bands. 𝘉𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘶𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘩 𝘢𝘪𝘳. ⁣ It’s been different and we are really enjoying it, other than Alex wishing he could do some heavy barbell squats. ⁣ Until that’s possible, dumbbell lunges, Romanian deadlifts, and hip thrusts have been getting the job done for lower body. For the upper body, dumbbells and body weight work are pretty standard — so there aren’t many changes in that department. ⁣ I personally have been enjoying at home workout videos that have been a part of my life for the last 15 or so years when necessary. 𝐀 𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐟𝐮𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞. ⁣ Ok friends! Now let me know how your training and eating has changed! ⁣
