True Altruism Is A Myth & Here Is Why

𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐰𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐦𝐲𝐭𝐡?⁣

𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 —> The action or practice of publicly expressing opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one’s good character or moral correctness of the position on a particular issue.⁣

𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐠𝐨. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐢𝐭!⁣

When you virtue signal or talk about all the 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘴 you do, it is purely as a means of satisfying your ego. If you are truly a good human acting from your higher self and not your ego, then you should do these good deeds without the expectation that others will acknowledge you. Seeking that acknowledgement is purely an egotistical action. 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜; 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.⁣

Most of the time this isn’t 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴. People don’t think about posting their good deeds on social media for external validation. They just do it. That’s why when someone comes in and disagrees with them on the virtues of their actions, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 — the disagreement is taken as a personal attack on their ego.⁣

𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐝:⁣

  • Why are you advertising it?⁣

  • Why can’t you handle criticism and differences of opinion?⁣

  • Why are you conflating your ideas with who you are as a person?⁣

The answer is because you did the good deed 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐟𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐠𝐨 and you want validation for your actions.⁣

Further support comes from the simple fact that most people who virtue signal outwardly express how evil others who disagree with them are. Most of the time, virtue signaling involves telling other people that they are bad humans for not believing in the same paradigms that you do.
